New DfT statistics show drop in child road casualties

New figures from the Department for Transport show that child road casualties for ages 0-15 have fallen by 6%, compared with the previous 12 months.

Over the year ending June 2012 there were 1,560 child pedestrians killed or seriously injured. For total child casualties overall, there were 2,350 deaths or serious injuries for the same year, a fall of 5% compared with the previous 12 months.

The statistics are published in the report called ‘Reported Road Casualties in Great Britain: Quarterly Provisional Estimates Q2 2012’.
